It’s gratifying to see that so many American Buddhists and friends of Buddhism have come together to do their part in the reconstruction of the areas of Sri Lanka that were so terribly devastated by the Tsunami. Some of us have been to Sri Lanka, but many of us have never been there, yet we feel a strong connection with the people and are pleased to be able to make our small contribution.
It’s unfortunate that we often have to wait for catastrophes to see people come together for an important cause, yet on the plus side, it’s a sign that deep down inside we recognize our connection to one another.
We laud the work of Ven. Walpola Piyananda and so many others who have done their part to help those most in need.
“Avoiding evil, doing good…..” – it’s not that complicated, is it ?
Sincerely,
Stan Levinson
